Embarking on an expedition to Belgium, we were welcomed by a skilful family of talented rug-weavers. Gaston has been weaving rugs since he was a little boy, and has since introduced the process to his own children and grandchildren. Rug weaving has become a family affair that is sure to continue for even more generations to come. The family’s passion and experience is evident as we discovered a rug that is simple and timeless, and made with the upmost care and quality. With a few shimmery accents subtly embellished into both colour options, these rugs add a ‘less is more’ style to any room. Travelling to meet the faces and the story behind such talent makes the journey extremely worthwhile.
Keeping abreast with the latest trends is important to Gaston and his family, and is evident in the rugs they so skilfully produce - particularly so in our Helmsley rug, as they have incorporated a polypropylene yarn that is resistant to fading from the sun. The durability of the material used makes these rugs perfect for places of high footfall, or perhaps for a play area or children’s bedroom that may endure the occasional mess.
