On our journey around the valley of Waregem, we crossed paths with the most talented of rug-weavers. Thomas and his elders have been rug-weaving for many years, in an area of Belgium that has seen world wars and many political changes. Thomas and his family have remained at the forefront of Belgian rug-weaving, injecting endless creativity and originality into the area.
It’s through the rich history of this area that Thomas has developed such a distinctive style; skilfully pairing a traditional Persian design with bright, modern colours, he wanted to create a rug that is going to make a statement to your home – not to simply blend into your flooring. His confidence is reflected in these rugs, with sanguine colours and bold contrasts. The way he has introduced the dyes into the yarn has been done in such a way that they remain vibrant and clean throughout wear – enduring sun exposure and conditions that everyday life might throw at these beautiful tapestries. With a distressed look, this rug offers so much more than your average Persian rug.
